Light a Fire :: Ask the Question :: Share Your Story
24-Hour Global Peace Fires Around the World!
Join us in Chicago and other places around the world in some simple ways of marking and dedicating a special day for peace.

Light a Fire
In every country and culture, fueled by twigs or oil, sun or spirit, fire supports Life. Fire ensures survival.
On the 9th day of the 9th month of 2009, all sorts of people will re-light sacred fires, at sunrise, all around the world -- to fulfill ancient prophesies, for all sentient beings, for peace and survival, for the next 19 generations.
Celebrate this worldwide occasion with your own sacred fire. By yourself or in a group, wherever you are on this morning, simply light a candle, burn some incense, or build a small fire. Do whatever you can to take your place in this global circle.
Add your location to the bottom of this page, or join with somebody near you who's already listed below.

Ask the Question
Open a space to talk about peace. Name a place, call the people, set the circle -- or simply ask the question: ''What are the Issues and Opportunities for Opening Space for Peace?''
What can we do, as individuals, as workers, students, and parents, as all kinds of teachers and leaders, to understand and contribute to a more peaceful way of life? A more peaceful human survival?
This is what we want to find out Ð personally and globally. This is the question and conversation we want to spark in every time zone and culture. No one is in charge. Everyone has a place, ''and a job.'' What is your personal and professional role in the service of life and peace?
Plan an event or raise the question informally, just sitting around with friends or family. Pay attention to what happens.
